A forest school happens when the same group of children, or young people, meet in a woodland environment with a qualified forest school practitioner regularly over a period of at least 6 sessions and engage in a child led exploration of their group in that wood.
Forest school gives participants the opportunity to develop socially, spiritually, intellectually and physically. As a result participants self esteem and confidence is improved as is their applied understanding of elements of, among other things, science, maths and geography.
A Forest School Program can include
* Free play * Structured games * Bush craft skills * Scientific explorations * Arts and crafts * Fire and cooking * Spiritual and imaginative work * Green wood work * Tool use * Den building * Almost anything else the children bring to it *
